Iced Ceremonial Cacao Recipe: A Spring Ritual for Warmer Days

The weather is starting to shift and your cacao is ready to shift with you. This iced cacao recipe is the same ritual you already know — just cold, perfect for spring.

If hot cacao has been your five minutes all winter, this is how you carry that ritual into the warmer months instead of losing it.

Ingredients

  • 20–30g Luna

  • 150ml milk of choice

  • 50ml hot water

  • Honey or sweetener of choice

  • Ice

Method

Fill a glass with ice.

Pour in the milk.

Whisk Luna, sweetener, and hot water together separately until smooth, then pour it straight over the milk and ice.

Stir and enjoy.

Why This Actually Does Something

Luna isn't just a nice-tasting drink. Cacao paste — the whole bean, stone-ground, nothing removed — is one of the most nutrient-dense foods there is. Here's what's actually in your glass:

Magnesium. Cacao is one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium around, and most women are running low on it. It's tied to muscle relaxation, sleep quality, and how your body handles stress.

Iron. At 7.3mg per 100g, cacao paste has more iron than beef, lamb, or spinach. It plays a role in energy and how your body moves oxygen around.

Antioxidants. Cacao paste has an ORAC score of roughly 98,000 per 100g. Blueberries sit around 2,400. The flavonoids and polyphenols here are doing real work against inflammation and oxidative stress — at a level almost nothing else in a normal diet comes close to.

Mood. This is the part people feel before they understand why. Cacao naturally contains theobromine (gentle, sustained energy), phenylethylamine — often nicknamed the "love chemical" — and anandamide, sometimes called the "bliss molecule." Add in serotonin precursors like tryptophan, and it starts to make sense why a cup of Luna can shift how you feel. It's not just in your head.

Energy without the crash. Theobromine gives you a slower, steadier lift than caffeine — no spike, no crash — and magnesium helps your body convert that into usable energy efficiently.

All of this is more present in cacao paste than in cacao powder or processed chocolate, simply because the whole bean is still intact. Powder is what's left after the fat is pressed out. Paste keeps everything — the butter, the minerals, the full antioxidant load. That's the difference Luna is built on.

Make It Yours

Some days it's hot, held in both hands before anyone else is awake. Some days — like this one — it's cold, made in under five minutes on your way out the door. Either way, it's still the ritual. Still yours.
